Historical Highlights of Greece
DAY 1 Athens
On arrival you will be met by our assistant and transferred to your hotel by your private vehicle. Rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 2 Athens
After breakfast we meet you at your hotel or close by, in order to start the morning half day Athens sightseeing tour. This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city.
Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop).
Continue and pass by the Prime Minister's residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).
On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon.
Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The Acropolis museum.
Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Athens
DAY 3 Athens
07.30 a.m. Transfer by motor coach from Athens centre to Piraeus port to embark on the cruise ship in order to start the full day cruise to the 3 beautiful Islands Hydra - Poros - Aegina which are nearby Athens (lunch on board is included).
Arrival at Piraeus port at 7.15 p.m. and transfer you back to your hotel in Athens. Overnight in Athens
DAY 4 Athens/Olympia
Early in the morning, departure for a 4 day classical land tour. Today visit ancient Mycenae and Epidaurus theatre, famous for its acoustics. After a short stop at Nafplion depart for Olympia through the central Peloponnese. Overnight in Olympia.
DAY 5 Olympia/Delphi
In the morning visit the sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient stadium and the archaeological museum. Drive on through the plains of Ilia and Achaia and over the magnificent cable stayed bridge of Rio-Antirio. Arrive in Delphi, overnight.
DAY 6 Delphi /Kalambaka
In the morning visit the archaeological site and the museum. Depart for Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing rock formations of Meteora. Overnight in Kalambaka.
DAY 7 Kalambaka/Athens
Visit Meteora. Amidst striking scenery, perched on huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless monasteries where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Return to Athens for overnight stay.
DAY 8 Athens/Airport
After breakfast you will be met by our assistant at your hotel and transferred to the airport by your private vehicle for your departure flight.
